The formula
cost per mile = $ per kWh × (kWh per 100 mi ÷ 100). Most Model 3 and Model Y trims are rated around 25–30 kWh per 100 miles on fueleconomy.gov; real-world use is higher in winter and at highway speeds. At home, add roughly 10% for charging losses.
Supercharger prices in 2026
- Tesla owners (member rate): about $0.43/kWh on average across US sites in August–October 2026, per DCFC Tracker's sync of Tesla's public pricing.
- Non-Tesla EVs without membership: about $0.60–$0.62/kWh; Tesla's $12.99/month membership gives them the owner rate.
- Location and time: rates range from about $0.41 (Nebraska) to $0.84 (Hawaii); many sites are 25–35% cheaper off-peak.
- Idle fees apply if you stay plugged in after charging at a busy site. Always check the price in your car's navigation before you go.

How to pay less
- Charge at home for daily driving; save Superchargers for trips.
- Supercharge off-peak when you can (the price shows in navigation).
- Arrive low and leave around 80%: charging is fastest at low charge, so you spend less time per mile added.
- Use the car's trip planner so it preconditions the battery on the way, which makes charging faster.
Ask AI what you actually pay
With AskMyEV connected, your AI uses your car's real efficiency and charging sessions. See our Tesla charging cost guide for home vs. Supercharger math.
You drove 1,140 miles and added about 330 kWh: 85% at home ($0.17/kWh) and 15% at Superchargers (avg. $0.41/kWh).
That's about 6.1¢ per mile overall, or $69 for the month.
